Many have suggested a racial motivation, as all the fires have occurred near Ferguson, the St. Louis suburb that saw massive protests and clashes with the police, following the killing of Micheal Brown. Local authorities have been very vocal about their desire to catch the arsonist or arsonists, offering a reward and sending out special patrols around churches. The church has little to offer for a motive.
