Having spent a few months in lagos,I hv met many young girls who believe that they need to come up with one fake accent or the other even though they haven't been to the international airport.
First of all, I don't know who goes about creating such impression, I clearly think it is Toke Makinwa and her vlog advise.
Secondly, if I remember correctly,there has to be a certain level of mastering before you can use it, just like driving.
But the one I have seen and heard, its crazy horrible, these girls dnt even bother knowing the difference between American and British English, you even get to hear one person adding Australian English. Am completely put off by it.
It is that kind of thing you hear in a comic show, and then you wonder why a well dressed girl is this shameless as to speak like this and almost immediately, she gets tired and returns back to her normal unadulterated Naija English. Nawao Nigerian bad girls, maybe if you practise more in front of a mirror, then u can do well in public, cos the situation is damp right repulsive. Just when I thought it was me that was being too sensitive, and not like strangers that I notice very single thing wrong with them, but other people started saying the same thing and I heaved a sigh of relieve.
